Step 1 — the Project Manager reads this script aloud

Enrollment is verbal and in person. The Project Manager enrolls field employees — foremen, laborers and door-knockers — on the job site, reading the following script and handing over the printed program card.

Before you get going on this job I want to set you up on our field reporting line.

Here's how it works. Instead of paperwork, you text the address and what you found straight to South State's reporting line for this job - the number's on this card, +1 (833) 315-6676. The system texts you back a receipt confirming what it recorded, or a question if something doesn't look right. That's all it ever sends you: confirmations about your own reports. It's automated - those replies come from a computer, not from me.

Before you say yes, a few things you should know:

• You'd be getting automated text messages from South State, Inc. at the cell number you text from - usually one to five on a day you're out working, and none on a day you're not. • Your carrier's normal message and data rates may apply. South State doesn't cover your phone bill. • This is voluntary. It is NOT a condition of your employment, and turning it down won't affect your job - we'll just take your reports the way we always have. • You can shut it off any time by replying STOP to that number. Reply HELP, or call the office at (856) 451-5300, if you need anything. • We don't give your mobile number to anyone outside the company for marketing.

So - do you agree to receive those automated text confirmations from South State at your cell number?

[If yes:] Good. Text your name and your crew to +1 (833) 315-6676 and you're on. Your text is what switches it on, and you'll get a confirmation right back.

[If no:] No problem - hang onto the card in case you change your mind, and we'll keep taking your reports the old way.

Step 2 — the employee opts in from their own phone

Consent is completed by the employee's own outbound text. Nobody is added to the program on their behalf.

How consent is recorded and stored

• The employee's inbound enrollment text is retained with its carrier message SID and UTC timestamp.
• The roster entry records self_enrolled: true and enrolled_at as an ISO-8601 UTC timestamp.
• The confirmation reply above is recorded with its delivery status, so we can show both that consent was given and that the disclosure reply reached the employee.
• Records are retained for the life of the project record.
• The printed card handed over at enrollment carries the same disclosures in writing.
• Only enrolled numbers are processed. An unenrolled sender gets one identification prompt, at most one re-prompt, and then silence - the program never messages a number that has not opted in.

How an employee opts out after consenting

• Replying STOP to +1 (833) 315-6676 opts the employee out. STOP, HELP and START are handled by the carrier-level opt-out layer, so a STOP is never answered with program traffic.
• Replying HELP returns the program help message. The office line (856) 451-5300 is on the card and in that message.
• An employee can also ask their Project Manager to remove them, which deletes the number from the roster.
